President Obama visits the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor

President Obama made a stop at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor this week to discuss raising the minimum wage. Covering a presidential visit is a lot like covering a high-profile sporting event, tight timelines, credentialing and security. Oh, and snipers.

I just returned from the NCAA basketball tournament in Indianapolis and was thrown right into the mix. Michigan students lined up 1,000 deep, to secure a ticket to the event, many of them spending the night outside.

Freshman Janie Brown was the first in line and first to receive a ticket to see President Obama speak.

Can't let a little line get in your way of a complete breakfast!

These same 1,000 students had to get into a second line outside of the Intramural Building on campus the next day for general admission seating.

Here the president jogs to the stage.

I was fortunate enought to get "buffer zone" access. This space is allocated for the traveling media and is in between the president and the audience. Sort of like the pit space at a concert.

Michigan quarterback couldn't resist a selfie opp with University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman before the speech.

SENIORS: Meredy

Meredy (short for Meredith, cute, right?) approached me at the last minute after bad weather had created a challenge for her schedule and her senior portraits. With a little bit of luck and some incredible weather, we managed to fit in a shoot just in time! Meredy, her mom Maria and myself (that's 3 Ms, people) hit the Arb and had a blast making some photos. I think you'll see, the camera loves Meredy.

We started our session in this location and I love how the leaves look like hearts! <3

Totally amazing eyes on you, Meredith!

I love how the print of her scarf matches the texture of the plants.

We were dodging perceived poison ivy to make these photos and they are some of my favorite!

Have a super senior year, Meredy!

SENIORS: JEN

I love getting a chance to photograph in Nichol's Arboretum here in Ann Arbor. This fall I've had several senior shoots there and it never feels the same. The community is very fortunate to have such a special place and Jen's senior portraits are pretty special, too. We squeezed in her shoot between volleyball practices and scored killer fall weather. I think she looks absolutely stunning. Jen comes from a long line of U-M grads and is hoping to attend herself, fingers crossed for you girl!

Love this set. Jen is seriously stunning!

I love how her blonde hair and light colored sweater just pop in this setting.

Enjoy your last year of high school, Jen! :D
