Photographing the President

President Obama addressed an excited crowd at the University of Michigan Al Glick Fieldhouse on Friday morning. It was an early morning start, 5:45 a.m., but it was worth the effort. It's always a great experience when you get the opportunity to photograph a president and this was his second visit to Ann Arbor in two years.

These Obama supporters waited overnight to be the first in line to get a spot inside the field house. Good thing they brought that plastic, it was windy and cold!

Cell phones and point-and-shoot cameras for everyone!

President Obama gave a shout-out to the second most popular person in the room.

One Frame: Winter

While it's not expected to last long, I'm happy to see a little snow around these parts! Here's a frame from a chilly morning feature hunt on Thursday.

The Big Easy

I started 2012 out with a bang! I had the very fortunate opportunity to go to New Orleans and cover the Michigan football team play in the Sugar Bowl. I arrived in the Big Easy a day before New Year's Eve and got to spend a few nights and days exploring downtown and the ever-popular French Quarter. Here are a collection of my non-football photos.

Best thing about the French Quarter? The street musicians!

And then of course, there is Bourbon Street! I took out a D700 and my trusty 35mm to shoot some features on New Year's Eve.

The pitfalls of over doing it! (Be glad there is no video of this!)

And for a little more flavor of the Big Easy, here is an audio slideshow I put together for AnnArbor.com
